Northwest Dental Hygiene is unique. We are a dental hygiene practice in Seattle, WA devoted to the prevention of dental problems. We specialize in cleaning teeth and offer advanced level dental hygiene care in our Downtown Seattle office.

You can choose who cleans your teeth; we offer you an additional alternative. Our team includes a licensed dental hygienist with more than 30 years of clinical and teaching experience.

Complete reports of any dental hygiene treatment or clinical observations about conditions in your mouth are sent to your dentist at your request. If you are new to Seattle, referrals can be made within our extensive network of area dentists and specialists.

Northwest Dental Hygiene was founded by Susan Carlson RDH, BS. She has brought together a highly skilled and experienced team with diverse talents and backgrounds. Our shared vision for this new approach to dental hygiene is the energy behind the idea.

Susan L. Carlson RDH, BS, Clinical Dental Hygienist
Susan brings 39 years of clinical experience and over 20 years of owning and managing her own independent dental hygiene contracting practice to this endeavor. Her passion, creativity, and dedication to providing her patients with the best possible dental hygiene care are the driving forces behind NWDH. Ms. Carlson has contracted with highly respected clinical specialists in private practice, and worked for six years as one of two clinical dental hygienists at the University of Washington Graduate Periodontics Clinic. She has taught radiology and has been a part time instructor at local dental hygiene community colleges, and has served as a clinical dental hygiene state board examiner. Ms. Carlson has held various offices in the Washington State Dental Hygiene Association and the American Dental Hygiene Association.

Michael Fleming, Office Manager and Patient Coordinator
As the Northwest Dental Hygiene office manager and patient coordinator, Mike brings a diverse background of experience with over 15 years as a Landscape Architect and designer. After receiving his Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture from Washington State University, Mike has designed many memorable garden and landscape spaces. Mike's work with clients and design projects comes in handy in his work welcoming patients, managing office communication and scheduling appointments. Stacey Ammons Kuhn, Insurance Coordinator
Stacey has been a dental office specialist and patient coordinator for the past 20 years. She has years of experience in customer service, office management and insurance processing. Prior to her role with NWDH, Stacey worked as a dental assistant for 10 years in periodontics and general dentistry. She has also worked as a dental laboratory technician. Although Stacey brings nearly 30 years of knowledge and experience in the dental field, her caring attitude, efficiency, attention to detail, and follow through with the complexities of insurance claims on behalf of our patients, make the business of running an office seem easy.

Wendy Walsh DDS, Supervising Dentist
Dr. Walsh graduated from the University of Southern California Dental School in 2001. While at USC she completed a two year Anesthesia and Sedation rotation with Dr, Stanley Malamed, a nationally recognized expert in the field of Dental Anesthesia. Since graduating dental school Wendy has worked in private practices and with the Indian Health Service. She has worked as a supervising dentist for Oly-Cap, a public health dental clinic in Port Angeles. Dr. Walsh also serves as a supervising dentist/instructor for the Pierce College Dental Hygiene Program branch in Port Angeles. She has also contracted with the Clallam Bay Correctional Center to provide dental services to inmates of this facility.
